The Mankind Is One pendant and ring designs take their inspiration from the Baha’i House of Worship in Wilmette. The symbols rest on a field of 18 lines representing the 18 steps leading up to the main floor of the Temple. These steps symbolize the 18 letters of the living, the first to believe in The Bab. The connecting bridge at the bottom is a replica of the design on the panels at the pylons surrounding the Temple.
When the piece was created, the National spiritual assembly, for the first time in Baha’I history granted permission for the use of wording around the sacred symbols. This was allowed as “Mankind Is One is a quotation from Baha’u’llah “.
